Fortawall Fencing for High Wind Site
The Project
To highlight how Fortawall was ideal for the site, United Rentals trialled six Fortawall units around an open ditch area which had been problematic for HEB due to the high wind factor. Following the success of the trial, HEB installed a further 55 Fortawall panels – more than 130m – to secure the access way on both sides of the pedestrian bridge and on the roadside.
In addition to Fortawall, United Rentals has supplied a double stacked worksite solution for the project made up of a site office, lunchroom, toilet, waste tank, and platforms as well as dangerous goods and general storage containers.
Summary
United Rentals provided a secure, wind-resistant Fortawall fencing solution for HEB Construction’s Te Ararata Creek Flood Resilience Project in Auckland. Exposed to strong winds, the site required barriers that remained stable on a temporary pedestrian bridge. After a successful trial of six units, HEB installed over 55 Fortawall panels, securing more than 130m of walkway and roadside access. United Rentals also supplied a full worksite package, including site offices, ablutions, storage containers, and platforms, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant solution.
Challenges
On a work site exposed to high winds, leading New Zealand infrastructure company HEB Construction needed a specialist fence solution to keep pedestrians safe while flood risk reduction work was underway.
Persistent strong winds meant it was essential for fencing barriers to stay upright and secure on a temporary bridge walkway as part of the Te Ararata Creek Flood Resilience Project in Auckland.
