United Rentals partnered with Downer Infrastructure to supply and install Fortawall temporary fencing for airside resurfacing works at Brisbane Airport, providing a secure, wind-resistant perimeter that maintained compliance with airport operational and safety requirements.

Summary

To support construction activity in a live airport environment, United Rentals delivered Fortawall temporary fencing that combined strength, rapid installation, and high wind resistance. The system improved site safety and security, controlled access to operational zones, and reduced setup and demobilisation time by 70%, ensuring the project could progress efficiently without disrupting airport operations.

Challenge

Construction projects at airports provide numerous logistical and safety challenges due to flight arrivals, departures and continuous operations.   

With Downer Infrastructure doing airside resurfacing work at Brisbane Airport, it needed a strong, versatile and secure temporary fencing solution to separate operational areas from construction activity and ensure it met compliance standards.
